Progressive side bets: Games like Caribbean Stud Poker commonly have one of these. You typically place a wager (a dollar is the usual value) to try to win a side jackpot that could reach $25,000. Though huge jackpots like these are very tempting, they are also incredibly hard to win. You would have to get a Royal Flush in order to hit this bet. Also, picture this- you wager 20 hands and make the side bet every time. That’s twenty dollars you could have used towards the actual game bet instead of a sucker wager. Just think about what you could have been able to win at a bet with better odds using that 20 dollars.
Individual number wagers in Roulette: This is particularly true for American Roulette. The reason? American Roulette has 2 zeroes on the wheel, unlike European Roulette, which has just 1. This shifts the overall house advantage from 2.63% with a single zero wheel to a whopping 5% in American. The one number wager has just a 1 in 38 chance of winning, which are very long odds indeed. Try even-odd or black-red bets as a substitute which have a much lower casino edge.
Keno: Any variation of Keno, and anyway you gamble on it, the casino edge can be a whopping 25%. Yes, that was not a typo. Because of the large set of numbers you have to select, it isn’t recommended to bet on Keno very much. A number of times for enjoyment, maybe. But do not spend all your money on it or you’ll immediately find yourself bankrupt.
