Progressive side wagers: Games like Caribbean Stud Poker often have one of these. You typically put a wager (a dollar is the usual amt.) to attempt to win a side jackpot that could be upwards of twenty-five thousand dollars. Although big jackpots like these are extremely tempting, they’re also very hard to succeed. You might have to hit a Royal Flush in order to win this bet. Also, think about this- you wager twenty hands and make the side bet each time. That’s $20 you should have used towards the real game bet in place of a sucker wager. Just think about what you might have been able to win at a bet with greater odds using that $20.
Single number wagers in Roulette: This is completely true for American Roulette. The reason? American Roulette has two 0’s on the wheel, unlike European Roulette, which has only 1. This shifts the overall casino advantage from twopercent with a single zero wheel to a huge 5% in American. The single number wager has only a one in 38 chance of winning, which are very long odds indeed. Try even-odd or black-red wagers as a substitute which have a much smaller house edge.
Keno: Any variation of Keno, and anyway you gamble on it, the house advantage can be a whopping twenty-five percent. Yes, that was not a error. Because of the large amount of numbers you have to choose, it is not recommended to play Keno to often. A number of times for enjoyment, maybe. But do not waste all your money on it or you’ll quickly find yourself broke.
